9to5Mac has reported Apple purchased a Bluetooth headset designer based in San Francisco named Wi-Gear two-months ago for an undisclosed amount. The company produced several Bluetooth based headsets for use with the iPod and iPhone. Although it would be amazing if Apple tried to free us from the confines of wired headsets, do not get too excited for most Apple acquisitions are usually for talent more so then for the products a company produces.
In other news, rumor has it iTunes 10.1, Mac OS 10.6.5 (Update: Mac OS 10.6.5 was released on 11-10-2010), and iOS 4.2 will all be released over the course of this week. iOS 4.2 being the most notable as it is the first major iOS update for the iPad, and will introduce several new features to the iPad such as multit-tasking. Other new features such as AirPrint will need to be supported on the Mac and in iTunes which is why iTunes and Mac OS X will also see updates. It is expected we will see Mac OS 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 released a few days before iOS 4.2.
