Apple recently released the Mac App Store on Thursday, January 6th. Within a 24-hour period it has distributed more than 1 million app downloads despite having only 1,000 different apps available. Steve Jobs is happy with the launch, and so are developers.
Evernote, makers of a to-do app, have seen twice as many users signing up for their software through the Mac App Store, but Apple is winning over gamers more than anything else.
Richard Garywood at TUAW says it’s mostly games being downloaded. Roughly 1/3 of all downloads are games with Flight Control HD and Air Hockey being among the more popular.
The Mac App Store is available through a software update installation.
